Uzbekisan, Samarkand Al-Moturidi Tomb - 02
| The project includes the design and manufacture of handmade seven-color ceramic tiles for the window panels located in the neck of the dome at Imam Al-Maturidi’s Mausoleum in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. These flat decorative tile panels serve 24 architectural windows and feature carefully designed ventilation openings that allow natural air circulation within the dome structure. Executed using traditional seven-color hand-painting and glazing techniques, the tiles incorporate a balanced composition of geometric Islamic patterns and floral designs, reflecting the artistic language of classical Central Asian Islamic architecture. Each tile panel is precisely proportioned to the window dimensions, ensuring visual continuity and architectural harmony around the dome neck. The handmade manufacturing process emphasizes kiln-fired glazing, color durability, and resistance to environmental conditions, making the tiles suitable for long-term exterior application. This refined tilework enhances both the functional ventilation system and the ornamental character of the mausoleum, contributing to the preservation of Samarkand’s historic Islamic architectural heritage. |
